PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The agency that oversees economic development in Rhode Island has appointed a new managing director of urban finance and business development as part of restructuring.
The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation says Armeather Gibbs will manage its urban capital programs.
She will also work on short- and long-range strategies to provide finance and business development in urban communities.
Gibbs is also expected to work with state and federal legislators and business leaders to secure funding for urban revitalization projects.
Gibbs has served during the last 20 years as executive vice president for the United Way of Rhode Island and senior vice president for Bank of America.
She also served as the director of community relations for Gov. Lincoln Almond.
